My reasons for starting this home page is to be able to give people access to a practitioners point of view particularly when contemplating the finishing aspects of mud brick building.
I would like explain my humble beginnings and exactly what it is that I do. I initially became involved in the finishing of mud brick houses in the seventies through my association with the Grimes family or to be more specific Alan and John Grimes and John Grimes senior. To begin with I started working with Alan and his father and was introduced to mud brick homes and a finishing technique that involved the use of wood stains originating from England. John Grimes senior had worked for many years finishing Alistair Knox’s homes and this mainly involved him painting the interior, exterior, of these houses with linseed oil wood stains.
